Education

National University of Singapore (8/2021-Present)

  • Major in Material Science and Engineering, pursuing a specialization in Biomedical Materials and a second degree in Philosophy.

  • Researching on conductive hydrogel fibres, biofuel solar cells, and more to come.

  • Full year exchange at Norwegian University of Science and Technology.

  • Member of many student groups:

    • NUS Dance Blast, Funkstyles, BreakiNUS; NTNUI Dans, Ski og Fjellsport, Studenterhytta.

Wellington College International Shanghai (9/2016-6/2020)

  • International school with IB Curriculum. I had good grades but I’m much more than those numbers. Email me for stats if you really want to know;)

  • Produced TiO2 dye-sensitized solar cells in my spare time, using randoms berries picked from the elementary school garden.

  • Debating, dancing, performing in musicals, and playing tennis.

Internship

National Univeristy of Singapore

  • Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials (IFIM). Studied the effect of different carbon-based electrode materials combinations and morphologies on bacteria survival rate, biofilm formation, and subsequent efficiencies of microbial fuel cells. Identified optimal bacterial performance conditions, feeding frequency, and change in bacterial behaviour over time.

  • Materials Science and Engineering department. Studied the effect of water concentration in solvent on formation of micro reservoirs in Ag+/PAN elastomer and subsequent effects on mechanical performance. Developed optimal experimental procedures of solvent preparation and elastomer fabrication. Conducted in- lab characterisation of materials including optical imaging, uniaxial mechanical tests, and sensing performance tests.

Genomics Research Internship Program at Stanford-GRIPS (July-August 2019) : Summer Research Intern

  • Interned at Hunter Fraser laboratory in the Biology Department.

  • Performed single-cell ATAC-sequencing on thyroid tumor cells and omni ATAC-sequencing on Schimke immune-osseous dysplasia.

  • This is when my interest for genomics, personalized medicine, and ‘aging as a disease’ started to really grow.

Abbott Laboratories (June-July 2019) : Summer Business Intern

  • Marketed drugs and health products to raise awareness and increase patient usage/adoption, analysed marketing data and actually identified several disparities and efficiency issues.

Wellington College (June-July 2020) : Admissions Intern

  • Digitalized the administrative system used to organize previously physical student data.

  • Represented the school and led introductory tours for prospective families.

Changzhou Fusion New Material Co., Ltd. (July-August 2023) (June-July 2018)

  • 2023: Worked with the company’s lead researcher to compare multiple silver pulp formulas and suggested promising raw compounds for new products. Identified inefficiencies in the manufacturing pipeline and optimised the production process.

  • 2018: Tested manufactured silver pulp for printing ability, fluid consistency, and conductivity in the company laboratory.
